Ehh, it's internal and the trans can not be removed without pulling the motor.

Yeah shit happens.

I don't really think anything in particular caused it. Just an 11 year old part. And they are somewhat known to take a crap on these trannies which is of course something I found out today. Or I would have just replaced it.

Sorry to hear that Scott. Hopefully with all the work you have done pulling the motor in and out you have worked it out to be a science.

condolances, but judging how fast you've been taking care of other little problems with it, i'd expect to see a new thread from you about it driving around in the next day or two...

Got the slave cylinder back in order and....

I pulled the Dash out today to one of the big final touches....and one of the most dreaded. Painting the roll cage.

It's not that it's tough it's just a bitch to do the right way. I went back smoothed out every weld. Sanded it all down (been in the car for over a year as bare steel so it was surface rusted) primed it and painted it with my spray gun. It's an agriculture enamel based paint that is kind of a dark silver/ light gray. I went with the AG stuff because every car I have ever had a cage in gets scratched to hell and looks good for about a week. Also I wanted some contrast so I stepped away from the black. lol Gonna put a couple strips of clear vinyl across the top door bars also to try and salvage the paint for awhile.

Anyway here it is after it's first coat and about 4 hours of prep time masking the entire exterior and interior.

Clear vynl will be a good touch. If that doesn't work, clear hose for water systems would be a good second choice.

May be a stupid question, but is that cae track legal with the door bars like that? Not up on the rules but just a little curious.

Depends who's rules you are going by. They are ECTA (land speed) legal. Not technically NHRA legal due to the fact that the side bars don't run a diagonal from your shoulder to the floor. And it is also SCCA legal for any of the racing I would chose to do. Since I built the car as a street car I didn't follow the rules too closely. The cage was built for the absolutely necessary structural bracing the car needed more so then for safety. I would be surprised if any 1/4 mile track actually kicked me out though.
